Some of the best known companies offered fanstastic sign-up deals, Coop car insurance, Budget car insurance and Sainsbury's car insurance returned good quality low insurance quotations, though by searching around for different things and then changing them slightly and conducting another Google search, then a Bing, Yahoo, MSN, Dogpile and Ask search, I got slightly different results and insurance companies each time.
By searching for localised things like nj car insurance quote and then contacting the best of the adverts and then rewording the search to 'cheap car insurance in new jersey' or 'car insurance maryland quote' meant that I was able to get lower costs as I had that many more companies to compare with. The next time I tried, I just entered a number that doesn't even exist, got the quotes, looked at the lowest few and then gave them my number. It saved me so much time the next time I got my road insurance policy.
Motorbike insurance for young drivers was one of the lowest reductions in terms of monthly payments (2%-15%) as opposed to more experienced car, MPV or 7 seater drivers who had a few years no claims under their belt (10%-75%). I successfully gained and took out a new policy for myself by using a car insurance calculator and by just taking advice from any good reputable motor insurance company who offer tips on how to actually get lower quotes with them. Go to back to your original company and say, ABC have offered me the same cover, plus windscreen, breakdown and recovery etc. and their price was £790, yours is £850 can you do anything on the price. I haven't found one company who haven't been able to match a quote and many insurance companies offer a discount if you get offered cheaper car, motorbike and even static and mobile caravan insurance.
I found it quite insulting that my insurance company would call me and tell me that if I wanted to insure with them the following year, I had to pay a 20% rise, despite having no claims and apparently all because some silly bankers in America had caused a recession which had affected the UK economy and they had spent all yours and my money on bankers bonuses and now my own motoring policy was to increase. My insurance was then with one of the best known U.K. companies and they also have a huge presence in the USA and are also very big in Europe. I couldn't grasp the concept that because a few people in the banking industry hadn't really insured their own loans properly and had lent them to the poorest people in the nation that were turned down by every major bank due to their poor credit history that meant the insurance companies were severely out of pocket but now I had to pay an extra 20%.
Anyway, I thought there had to be some way, so I started researching into what insurance companies looked for and why some people's insurance policies seemed to be only a few hundred pounds and mine was approaching £1,000. Well, it didn't take me too long to find out why some prices are higher than others. So if you're a nurse simply, go to Google and type something like low car insurance for nurses or low car insurance for bakers, financiers, entrepreneurs, etc. without the quote marks. Similarly if you're a musician which is one of the highest insurance groups possible, type 'low musicians road insurance', compare an few quotes then try other searches in other search engines as you will get different results from all of them using the same search term. Then rearrange the search term i.e. nursing vehicle insurance, nurses fully comprehensive insurance for cars and any other search terms that you can think of. Amazing how much you can lower your monthly or yearly outlay.
If you are in the lucky position to be able to afford to pay your insurance cover for the whole year, it is substantially lower than paying for it monthly, though every insrance company I've ever found does offer monthly repayments of course, as they collect a higher return from you for the same cover. Of course, if you check, some insurance companies offer a 0% interest rate on monthly payments that means that if you choose their company, it is actually cheaper for you to pay monthly rather than paying for the whole year in advance. I have noticed that companies that offer 0% tend to do so if you will agree to switch to their company (while holding a few years no claims bonus) tend to be slightly higher priced than those that don't offer 0%.
If you think about the amount of money you are likely to save by getting several online quotes, you can really save a fortune. If you are a multi-car household or car and bike household, you can get a lower quote by using the same company for both. Similarly lots of car insurance companies offer household insurance and very often it is cost effective to insure with the same company. Based on your own salary, it probably is worthwhile using one day of your holiday searching and collating insurance quotes and it probably is going to save you an average of £150-£200 which is not bad for one day. You can even drink, smoke and eat doing it all from the comfort of your own armchair and you don't have to speak to anyone which is the beauty of it. How many times would you speak to an insurance representative getting car quotes in the past? Most people used to only compared two or three companies and then would opt for the lowest one with the best cover. Now you can easily compare 100 or more companies in just a few hours. The beauty of some insurance comparison websites is that the lowest price appears at the top of the search page once you've entered all of your details, with the trailing 99 vehicle insurance cover sites in order of price from the lowest to the highest.
Do spend half a day or more looking into affordable car insurance and using the best thing that was ever invented for small and large business (Google and the internet in general) to gain a cheaper car insurance quote. It's amazing at what Google is able to find and I found this the most complete and up-to-date search engine. Many others trail far behind or do not give as much information and it's worth just checking with your own search engine, Yahoo, Bing just to see the difference in some of the insurance advertisers. Bing is very good and offers quite different results than Google, though ASK, MSN and Yahoo were very similar to Google overall. Dogpile was very different as were lots of others. Just search for the top 20 search engines in your country or area and try a few of them out.
Most good insurance companies offer special discounts for young drivers, female drivers, company insurance policies, family vehicle cover etc. and they do it by placing an advert that will grab your attention, mostly in the form of Sponsored Adverts offering special deals. My advice is to click on them as it almost certainly means that you can get a quick quote from a reputable company and at a decent price. Don't just check using just one of these adverts. They are there for a reason and that is so that you will click on their advert, will possibly get a quote and may then insure with them, whether it is moped insurance, bike insurance or for your camper van insurance. Once you feel that you have obtained the lowest possible motor insurance quotation from two or three companies, then play them off and e-mail your details (including your phone number) stating AA insurance was £35 cheaper than yours, what are you able to offer me to switch to your company? Very often I found that a specialist occupation insurance company was able to get substantially lower quotes than the usual insurance giants.
